The Discerning Eye: Cavier Coleman’s Evolution
Having collected Cavier Coleman’s work since 2017, I have had the distinct pleasure of watching his creative trajectory from the front row. Stepping into his latest solo show, "What You Wish For" at Loves Club NYC, I realized that the most fascinating element of his evolution isn't just the work itself, but the deliberate shift in who the work is for.
We are witnessing a clear departure from an artist who was once wandering and exploring boundaries to one who is now forming absolute, calculated specificity in how he wants his art to be consumed. By taking precise control of that narrative, he is intentionally opening his world to command the attention of a much broader, wider, and more diverse audience than ever before.
The 10-Foot View
This latest body of work is large, heavily compiled, and intricate; looking at any single piece misses the point entirely. You genuinely need a macro, 10-foot view to step back and decode the grand design of what is actually happening in the room.

And what is going on underneath the scale and texture? Something entirely pure, magnificent, and rare: an artist completely, unapologetically being an artist—steering his own ship and inviting a larger world along for the ride.

The Verdict
Recommended for collectors seeking a body of work that masterfully navigates dominant institutional themes—offering an entry point experienced entirely through the eyes. But the question remains: whose eye?
